The "Musical Citadel of Brasov" International Festival Wed, 11th of June 2009
The "Musical Citadel of Brasov" International Festival takes place between 12-19 of August in the middle of the tourist season. The festival has reached its 7th edition and combines concerts of classical music with folklore, jazz, poetry and opera evenings, thus creating a multicultural environment addressing both our young audience and the wide public alike.
In the preceding editions we enjoyed the presence of world-wide known artists, such as Ian Hobson (England), Ko Iwasaki (Japan), Parry Karp (USA), Stefan Ignat, Ilinca Dumitrescu, Gabriel Croitoru, Johnny Raducanu, Mirel Iancovici (Holland) and Csaba Erdely(Hungary). Among well known solo and chamber music works, during the festival were also performed numerous premieres, thus promoting a very wide and original repertoire. The presence of world reknowned artists such as Jerrold Rubenstein, Dalia Ouziel or Lory Wallfisch ensures a high level of musicianship. We also welcome internationally prominent young artist such as Henri Bonamy, Daniel Rubenstein, Lilian Akopova, Paul Cristian or Nicolae Lupu.
Most concerts will take place at Reduta Cultural Centre in Brasov (2 Apollonia Hirscher Street) and the entrance at all concerts is free. A special concert will take place at the Catholic Church with the presence of the distinguished soprano Georgeta Stoleriu. In addition one evening will be dedicated to the contemporary music of Romania where Theodor Grigoriu, our celebrated composer will present.
The organisers invite the public of Brasov and especially the music loving tourists who are coming in August to our beautiful musical citadel from all over the country and the world, to join this exciting musical and cultural venture. PERFORMANCES
