Slow Food Market in Brasov Tue, 12th of July 2010
The Slow Food Market in Brasov takes place every last weekend of the month in Piata Sfatului. The market is open between 10.00am-04.00pm and gathers 35 traditional producers. Here you'll find a large variety of food and drinks: cheese, meat specialities, bread, fruit and vegetables, gingerbread, wine, apple juice and even beehive products. Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people's dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world.
To do that, Slow Food brings together pleasure and responsibility, and makes them inseparable. In Brasov Slow Food Convivium was founded last year with the purpose of organising a series of actions meant to redescover and promote the local food and Romanian culinary tradition. www.slowfoodbrasov.ro
